Paul R. (Randy) Griego, 71, of Queen Creek, Arizona passed away at Banner Desert Hospital on February 14, 2024. He was born on April 13, 1952, in La Junta, Colorado to Adolph and Lola Griego.
He married Janet Manley on January 2,1976 at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, AZ. She survives. Survivors also include his son, Bradley Griego (Jennifer) of Queen Creek, AZ; daughter Kelly Griego, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Taylor Griego, Ryan Dodson, Tyler Dodson; and sister Frances of Prescott Valley, AZ.
In addition to his parents, two brothers preceded him in death.
Paul served his country and was honorably discharged from the Marines and Air Force. He was also a retired Phoenix Police Detective and later retired from Maricopa County as a Probation Officer. While a Phoenix Police Detective, Paul was the original detective developing the Metal Theft Detail and the major author of the original law monitoring illegal metal sales.
Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling with Janet, especially visiting National Parks. He recently learned he had artistic talent by sketching and carving and creating wood art.
Paul’s Memorial Service will be Saturday, March 9, 2024, at noon at San Tan Memorial Funeral home in Queen Creek, AZ. Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation of Retired Police Officers (FORPO.com) or a charity of the donor’s choice.
