Nicholas Schlittenhart born July 22, 1981, in Tucson Arizona, passed away on January 25 2025. Known for his kind heart and dedication to his family, Nicholas leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love and generosity.
Nicholas proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 years, 3 months and 25 days, earning commendations such as the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas Service Ribbon, with part of his service spent in Korea. His time in the military shaped his character, instilling in him the perseverance and strength he carried through his whole life.
As an Arizona Native, Nicholas was a passionate fan of all thing’s sports- especially the Cardinals, Diamondbacks and the Suns. Whether watching games or spending time with his nieces and nephews, Nicholas brought a vibrant energy and humor to every family gathering. He loved being “Uncle Nick” and never missed a chance to share joy.
Nicholas and his wife, Bonnie, spent their marriage creating memories that will last a lifetime. The two were “big kids at heart,” reliving the magic of youth with trips to Disneyland, SeaWorld, and Universal Studios. Nicholas’s giving nature shone through in every part of his life. One memorable example was when he purchased hot chocolate and candy at work to help send a child to Disneyland- even though he was trying to cut back on chocolate. Helping others was simply who he was. His talents were as vast as his generosity. Known as “The Pizza Man” for his time working and running Papa John’s stores and “Mr. Electric” for his career in the car business, he excelled at everything he pursued. He worked hard to build a life for he and his wife including purchasing their first home, an accomplishment that made him incredibly proud.
Nicholas is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Schlittenhart; his mother, Tina Cannales; his father, Dan Schlittenhart; and his sister Alex Renico. He was a devoted uncle to his cherished nieces and nephews.
Services to honor and celebrate Nicholas’s life will be held on February 12 at 10:00 AM at Mountain View Funeral Home, 7900 East Main Street in Mesa.
Nicholas’s laughter, selflessness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but never forgotten. While his time with us was far too short, he taught us to live life fully, love deeply, and find joy in the simple moments. His legacy reminds us that the best way to honor his memory is to carry his kindness forward. As he would have said, “Life’s a slice of pizza- make it your own special slice.” Rest in Peace Nicholas, you truly were one of a kind.
