John Allen Duncan, 84, passed away unexpectedly on February 10, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona.

Born on October 13, 1940, in Troy, Ohio, John was the son of Robert and Margaret Duncan. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from The Ohio State University, a testament to his lifelong love of learning and problem-solving.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, John dedicated much of his life to serving others. As a Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America for many years, he found great joy in mentoring young men, sharing his passion for hiking, camping, and the outdoors with both the scouts and his family.

During his “retirement” years, John continued his legacy of service by serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New Hampshire Manchester Mission, where he worked to preserve historical records—a role that combined his love of history with his commitment to faith.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret; his daughter, Marcia; and his brother, Bill. He is survived by his wife, Anne; their children, Michele, Miranda, Michael, and Melissa; his sister, Maryann; and 10 cherished grandchildren: Megan, Ryan, Cooper, Tucker, Duncan, Grady, Ava, Austin, Katie, and William.

John’s kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love and service will live on in the lives he touched.

Arrangements were cared for by Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery.
