Ah Yung, a devoted father, grandfather, and man of deep faith, passed away on February 12, 2025. Born on August 13, 1939, in Bahmaw, Kachin, Myanmar, he spent most of his life in his hometown before starting a new chapter in the United States. His life was defined by love for his family, commitment to his faith, and dedication to the community he served.
Faith was the foundation of Ah Yung’s life. As a Deacon and Head of the Kachin Ministry, he dedicated himself to spiritual service and leadership. His prayers were a constant source of comfort, whether offered at meals, birthdays, or in times of need. Ah Yung’s dedication to prayer was a reflection of his belief in the power of God’s love and the importance of family.
Ah Yung embraced life in America with enthusiasm and gratitude. Proud to earn his U.S. citizenship on his first attempt, he took great pride in his new country and the opportunities it provided. He also discovered a love for sports and world news after coming to America, often sharing updates and commentary with family and friends. His curious and thoughtful nature was evident in everything he did.
Ah Yung was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Roi Seng, and his son, Nau Nau. He is survived by his five children: Brang Li, Kaw Hpang, La Nan, Jijan, and Tulun; each of whom carries forward his values and lessons. He was a proud and loving grandfather to ten grandchildren: Baba Lazum, Naw Naw Lazum, La La Lazum, Pan Seng Ja, Khin Zin Mon, Khin Ei Mon, Mari Seng Yung, Jessica Seng Yung, Arthur L Loo, and Phyoe Myat Thaung. His family cherishes the memories of his care, wisdom, and steadfast love.
In remembrance of Ah Yung, the family is comforted by the words of John 11:25:
“Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’”
Ah Yung lived a life rooted in love, faith, and family. His gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to those he held dear left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on as a blessing and inspiration to all who knew him.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 10 AM, followed by a funeral service at noon and burial at 1 PM. Services will be held at:
