It was a special Friday night under the lights Nov. 4 in Queen Creek as the Crismon High School football team made 13-year-old Braydon honorary captain for the evening.
Coach Corbin Smith, the Rattlers football team and school staff made a great impact on the young man who was diagnosed in 2018 with high-risk neuroblastoma. Statistics give him a 30% survival rate. Braydon is 1 of 800 diagnosed a year with this type of cancer.
He did 27 rounds of chemo and 15 rounds of radiation in 12 different places all over his body. He had one stem cell transplant and six rounds of immuno therapy. Because of his cancer being so severe, Braydon doesn't go into remission for five years and as of this December he will be three years out of treatment. He is a thriving warrior, according to his family and friends.
