The Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) high school bands have achieved remarkable milestones this year, showcasing talent, dedication, and community spirit. Under the leadership of passionate directors, Eastmark High School, Crismon High School, and Queen Creek High School have delivered outstanding performances, solidifying QCUSD as a host of musical excellence.
Eastmark High School
Under the direction of Dan Fischer, the Firebird Marching Band achieved its most successful season to date:
- Earned a bronze medal (third place overall) at the Arizona State Marching Band Championships with their show The Wild West.
- Received the Highest Auxiliary Caption Award for outstanding performance.
- Accomplished these feats with a band where half the members were new this year.
- Excitedly anticipates moving into their new building next year, further enhancing their program.
Crismon High School
Led by Scott Lloyd, the Rattler Marching Band celebrated its first competitive season and more:
- Completed their debut competitive marching season, with performances across the state.
- Honored their first three seniors while welcoming a young band with many eighth and ninth graders gaining valuable experience.
- Performed at the Queen Creek Veterans Day celebration.
- Will participate in the Queen Creek Hometown Holiday Parade on December 7.
- Expanded the Cadet Band, which has doubled in size and will perform alongside other ensembles at the Winter Concert on December 9.
- Engaged with the community through movie nights, pep rallies, and support for varsity sports teams at games and assemblies.
Queen Creek High School
Tucker Rother and the Queen Creek High School Marching Band have made waves on a state and national level with their marching season:
- Performed Freak Show Fantasia, earning accolades like 3rd place at the University of Arizona Band Day.
- Performed the National Anthem for over 40,000 attendees at the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championships, with a televised audience of over 1.1 million.
- Will be one of the first high school bands to perform at an Arizona Cardinals football game, including a performance on the Great Lawn!
- Performed at high-profile events like the World Hip-Hop Dance Championships and a Shark Tank-hosted conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Downtown Phoenix.
- Was Invited to perform at the opening night of the Phoenix Zoo Lights, which hosted a large in-person audience and was televised across all of Arizona!
QCUSD’s high school bands have had a phenomenal first half of the school year, thanks to the dedication of their students, directors, parents, volunteers, and more. These students' achievements inspire pride throughout the district, highlighting the power of teamwork, artistry, and community support.
