ADOT: Weekend SR 24 closures scheduled, beginning June 11

Westbound SR 24 will be closed between Ellsworth Road and Loop 202 from 5 a.m. Saturday, June 11 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 12. Drivers traveling west on SR 24 from Williams Field Road must exit at Ellsworth Road.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) advises drivers to plan ahead for the following closures the next two weekends along State Route 24 (Gateway Freeway) in Mesa, near Queen Creek.

ADOT crews will perform the following pavement maintenance:

  • Westbound SR 24 will be closed between Ellsworth Road and Loop 202 from 5 a.m. Saturday, June 11 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 12. Drivers traveling west on SR 24 from Williams Field Road must exit at Ellsworth Road.
    • Detour: Drivers can travel north on Ellsworth Road and access Loop 202 via westbound Elliot Road or by using westbound Ray Road to northbound Hawes Road.
  • Eastbound SR 24 will be closed between Loop 202 and Ellsworth Road from 5 a.m. Saturday, June 18 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 19. All interchange ramps will be closed between Loop 202 and SR 24.
    • Detour: Drivers may exit to eastbound Elliot Road and use southbound Ellsworth Road to access SR 24.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while work is underway.
