Family Promise of Greater Phoenix, a nonprofit organization breaking the cycle of homelessness for families, marks 25 years of changing lives in the Valley. Since its inception, the organization has helped more than 2,100 families move from crisis to stability through innovative housing solutions and comprehensive support services.
"As we celebrate this incredible milestone, I can't help but smile thinking about the thousands of children and families who have found hope and a path forward through Family Promise over the past 25 years," said Ted Taylor, executive director of Family Promise of Greater Phoenix. "Each story represents a testament to the power of our community coming together."
Family Promise's unique model focuses on preventing homelessness, not just providing shelter. The organization keeps families together, including their pets, while offering a range of services spanning housing, employment, childcare, and education.
Family Promise's innovative approach includes an interfaith network that transforms congregations into temporary homes and support centers. This community-powered model proves cost-effective and scalable to meet the growing demand for emergency services.
Key achievements over the past 25 years include:
-
2,100 families helped.
-
1,470 families staying out of homelessness.
-
54 interfaith congregation partners to support Family Promise’s cost-effective emergency shelter model compared to traditional shelter approaches.
-
70% of families transitioning to stable housing through innovative programs.
"As we look to the future, we must continue to innovate in our approach to homelessness," Taylor said. "With many families still facing challenges to finding affordable housing, our commitment to developing creative, effective solutions for families remains stronger than ever."
To commemorate this anniversary, Family Promise launches its "25 for 25" initiative, inviting 25 new monthly donors to become Promise Partners. These donations, ranging from $25 to provide daily meals for a family to $125 for a full day of shelter and support, create lasting change. Family Promise is an AZ Qualifying Charitable Organization, and individuals can claim up to $470 and couples can claim up to $938 in tax credit.
