Gib M. Bosworth II of Queen Creek, AZ passed away at the age of 81 on Wednesday January 8, 2025, at his home after battling prostate cancer, surrounded by his beloved family.

Gib was born January 4, 1944, to Gilbert M. Bosworth and Bernice Bosworth in Terre Haute, IN. He was a cherished son, father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend who lived life to the fullest with passion, purpose, and adventure.

He is survived by his current wife, Karen; the mother he shares his two sons with, Georgia Bosworth; his sons, Gilbert (Gib) Maylon Bosworth III and Gregory (Greg) Gene Bosworth; his daughters-in-law, Kimberly and Sarah; his grandchildren, Bailey, Parker, Jill, Colton and Christian; his siblings, Tom and Sandy; his stepchildren, Traci, Brad, Kim and Bill; his stepson-in-law, Steve; and his step granddaughter, Maggi. Gib was preceded in death by his former wife, Edy.

Gib graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute, IN where he excelled in football. He was named 1961 Indiana All State player of the year as quarterback and received the Laverne K. McMillan Award, given to the most outstanding Terre Haute high school athlete. Gib attended his first year of college at Tulane University in New Orleans on a football scholarship. Gib transferred to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN where he achieved numerous athletic and academic awards in football and baseball, coupled with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with Honors in 1966.

Gib was inducted into the Rose-Hulman Athletic Hall of Fame in 1994 with Career Highlights as football team’s most valuable player, 1965, baseball team’s most valuable player, 1966, starting quarterback for three seasons including 1965, leading the engineers to a 5-3 Record – the only winning season from 1959-1975. Also was the team’s kicker and punter, compiling a punting average of over 36.0 yards per punt, two-year co-captain of the football team. He was two-time baseball team batting champion, 1964 and 1965, Batting Over .400 In 1965. Gib earned his MBA from Xavier University in Ohio.

Gib joined the General Electric Companies highly regarded Technical Marketing Program as a sales engineer and excelled at GE for thirty-seven years coupled with living in Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, New York, California, Arizona, and Alaska. Gib was GE Power Systems Salesman of the Year 2001 along with numerous other awards during his career.

Gib was an avid hunter and angler and lived a life of adventure in Alaska, coupled with three decades of riding and showing Appaloosa horses, resulting in numerous national championship halter horse awards along with several world champion horses. Gib was an enthusiastic Porsche 911 R Gruppe enthusiast where he raced and restored several legendary 911 cars that are enjoyed worldwide.

Gib lived life to the full and forged amazing memories with his family and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, AZ, or White Bird Appaloosa Horse Rescue.
