United Food Bank Christmas food distribution

Annual food distribution provides holiday meals to Arizona families in need.

On Dec. 20, United Food Bank in Mesa supported Arizona families with its annual Christmas food distribution that returned to the Mesa Convention Center. This seasonal event makes warm, tasty meals accessible to thousands of friends and neighbors in Arizona experiencing food insecurity.

This distribution provided residents in the East Valley with all items needed to prepare a Christmas meal for their families. There was a variety of nutritious holiday food items including hams, produce boxes and other food items for a traditional holiday meal.

The Christmas food distribution was conducted as a drive-through where individuals filled their empty vehicle trunk with meals for themselves and family members. Walk-up service was available to those without vehicles, and volunteers were available on-site to assist in pick-up and distribution.

“This distribution is a chance for us to reach out into the community every year and make a difference in people's lives, especially in the spirit of giving during the holiday festivities that come this time of year,” said Jason Reed, CEO of United Food Bank. “Everyone deserves a warm, healthy and delicious meal to enjoy during the holidays. When we connect with those who are struggling to achieve that, this distribution gives them one less thing to worry about.”

With living costs and grocery prices continuing to rise, people are increasingly seeking food assistance for the first time. United Food Bank is diligently working to fill these needs and ensure that individuals and families have the food they need for the holiday season.
