Things to do: Celebrate the holiday season with A Winnie-The-Pooh Christmas Tail Dec. 6-23

Based on A.A. Milne’s cherished characters, A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail is a heartwarming tale of friendship and kindness.

Valley Youth Theatre (VYT) invites families to experience the wonder of the season with their annual production of A Winnie-The-Pooh Christmas Tail. This enchanting musical runs from Dec. 6-23 at Valley Youth Theatre, located in downtown Phoenix at First Street and Fillmore.

Based on A.A. Milne’s cherished characters, A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail is a heartwarming tale of friendship and kindness. Winnie-The-Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and their friends in the Hundred Acre Wood come together to help Eeyore find joy during the holiday season.

Filled with delightful songs, touching moments, and plenty of laughter, this show is a perfect way to celebrate the spirit of giving.

Bringing this beloved story to life is a talented team of returning local designers who transform the Hundred Acre Wood into a beautiful winter wonderland. Dawson Buckholz provides the lighting design, Tom Holmberg (VYT alum) delivers immersive sound design, and Karol Cooper creates costumes and makeup that perfectly capture the whimsical world of Pooh. Musical direction and accompaniment by Rebecca Joslin (VYT alum) add to the magic of this feel-good holiday show, making it a delightful experience for audiences of all ages.

“This story embodies the heart of what VYT is all about - encouraging young people to come together, celebrate their unique talents, and make a difference in the lives of others,” said Billie Jo & Judd Herberger Executive Producer Bobb Cooper. “At its core, it’s a reminder that even small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact.”

Over the past 30 years, this production has served as a starting point for countless young performers who have gone on to achieve success in theatre, film, and television. This year’s cast features 15 talented young actors from across the Phoenix Metropolitan area.

Tickets are priced at $25 and $27, plus service fees, and can be purchased by visiting vyt.com/tickets or by calling the box office at 602-253-8188.
