Student art, essay contest entries for Constitution Week accepted through Aug. 26

The Downtown Arts and Placemaking Advisory Sub-Committee will select the winners, which will be announced at the Sept. 18 Queen Creek Town Council meeting. The grand prize, donated by Pecan Lake Entertainment Center, includes vouchers to their facility. 

In honor of Constitution Week, celebrated the week of Sept. 16, the town is hosting an art and essay contest for K-12 students who attend a school in the Town of Queen Creek.

Entries in the following categories will be accepted through Monday, Aug. 26:

  • Founding Father Fun – Create an original art piece of one or more Founding Fathers using the art medium of your choice or write a one-page letter to one of the Founding Fathers highlighting their legacy.
  • What the Constitution Means to Me – Produce an original piece of art or write a one-page essay depicting what the U.S. Constitution means to you.

Entries can be dropped off with the entry form from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Municipal Services Building, located at 22358 S. Ellsworth Road.

Selected entries, including the winners, will be displayed at Founders' Day and the QC Community Concert

The QC Community Concert in honor of Constitution Week will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 at the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center, located at 22149 E. Ocotillo Road, behind Queen Creek High School. The free concert will include schools from throughout Queen Creek coming together in song. 

Celebrate Queen Creek’s 35th anniversary at Founders’ Day on Saturday, Sept. 21  from 5 to 9 p.m. at Founders’ Park, located at 22407 S. Ellsworth Road. The free event will include fun activities, entertainment and the exciting Battle of the Badge competition. Select entries will be displayed at the Constitution Week booth. Stop by to view the entries and participate in the Founders’ Fashion Gallop.
