Banner Alzheimer’s Institute will host the fifth annual “Shine a Light on All Dementias” community event from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 on the lawn of the Arizona State Capitol, 1700 W. Washington St.
The free event is designed to challenge stereotypes, raise awareness and bring hope surrounding Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, in recognition of National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
Participants can enjoy fun family activities, live music, yoga, photos with Santa, community resources and more.
The event will culminate in lighting the Capitol purple, the color designated to honor the nearly six million Americans living with Alzheimer's disease. A short recognition ceremony will honor people who have made a difference for those living with cognitive changes through bravery, determination, advocacy, being a champion and trailblazing.
Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or chairs to enjoy the evening activities. Dogs on a leash are welcome. Each person who registers will receive one complimentary coffee from Luana’s Coffee in Phoenix.
