The Queen Creek Performing Arts Center (QCPAC) is having auditions for Disney's "Moana Jr." this weekend.
Open auditions are from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7 and from 1 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8 for ages 7 to 18 years old (must be 7 by first rehearsal).
Callbacks will be on Friday, Jan. 14 and the cast lists will be posted on their website only at QCPAC.com.
"We will be double casting this production," said a QCPAC spokesperson. "There will be a Moana cast and Shiny cast, meaning each role will be played by two different people. Rehearsals, tech days and performances may vary based on which cast you are in."
Show dates for Moana are at 7 p.m. on April 6, 8 and 9. Show dates for Shiny are at 7 p.m. on April 7 and 11 and at 2 p.m. on April 9.
"Each cast will participate in two days of school performances along with their three public performances," the spokesperson said. "Each cast will need to miss a total of two days of school for the school performances."
Rehearsals will be on Fridays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. from Jan. 21 through Feb. 5.
Rehearsals will change to Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 16 through March 31 (no rehearsal during spring break March 10-16).
No absences are allowed the two weeks before tech week. All tech/dress rehearsals and performances are mandatory for all cast members. Conflicts that take place during March/April may keep you from being cast.
