Queen Creek is an active and engaged community, with volunteers donating nearly 84,000 hours of service in 2022.
To help streamline and enhance the opportunities and process, the town has launched a centralized volunteer program.
“We so appreciate the time and service our volunteers provide,” said Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley. “Our residents have such a mix of skills and knowledge; it is exciting to know it will be easier than ever to share those talents. Not only does volunteering increase community engagement, and save taxpayer dollars, it really is hard not to smile when you’re serving.”
Based on the estimated value of a volunteer hour, in 2022 volunteers provided a benefit of more than $2.5 million (Independent Sector, 2022).
The centralized program includes one place for all town volunteer opportunities, a primary point of contact, background screenings for applicable positions and options for volunteers to provide feedback.
Through the program, the town is committed to providing opportunities for volunteers to use and develop new skills, train and provide necessary oversight, and provide applicable information, equipment and materials. The town is also committed to providing a safe, positive and friendly environment, while providing recognition and appreciation for volunteers.
