Queen Creek Police Department introduces new technology for residents.

On Monday, Aug. 26, the Queen Creek Police Department (QCPD) introduced a new communication and customer service tool to improve existing communication and investigation processes.

SPIDR Tech will automate the sending of text messages, emails, and mobile surveys to reporting parties, 911 callers and victims. The tool will provide updates after a call for service is placed.

Key features of Versaterm SPIDR technology:

  • When a call is placed on a cell phone to the QCPD non-emergency line at 480-480-3500, or 911, an automated text message will acknowledge the call. After the initial message, the recipient has the option to opt out of any subsequent messaging.
  • Updates on police response will be provided regularly. This includes information about any delays experienced by responding officers. Delays may arise when a higher priority call for service is received, necessitating the diversion of the officer.
  • Even if they didn’t make the original call to QCPD, crime victims can now opt-in to receive regular updates on their case status via email or text. These updates may include details on case statues, assigned investigators or other relevant information.
  • Surveys providing feedback will be available to crime victims to fill out.

It’s important to note that, while the new technology provides residents with the ability to receive real time updates, they won’t be able to send text communications to dispatchers.

“SPIDR Tech will enhance communication and connection with residents by providing another way to interact and engage with us,” Chief Randy Brice said. “This reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting a safe community through accountability, connection and trust.”
