Through the Maricopa County Library District (MCLD), library card holders can take advantage of free, online tutoring for all ages with Brainfuse HelpNow.
Residents can access this online resource by visiting the “Learn” tab at mcldaz.org. Library card holders can simply enter their card’s barcode number and pin to gain access to all HelpNow features. Live tutors are available daily between 2 and 11 p.m.
“What’s great about it is they can use it from home. The hours from the tutors go until 11 p.m. so even if they’re working late on something there’s someone available who will help them,” said Jenn Lopez, manager of the Queen Creek Library.
HelpNow also includes homework help where students can seek assistance in everything from math to science, reading, writing, social studies, PSAT/SAT, ACT, AP and state standardized tests.
Additional features include skills-building, personalized eLearning tools, a 24-hour writing lab and homeword send question. Through the Adult Learning Center, card holders can take advantage of a variety of learning content (GED). There’s professional help to assist with resume/cover letter writing, U.S. citizenship prep, MS Office Essential Skills Series and more.
HelpNow also has a foreign language lab and Spanish-speaking support.
While all of this is available to residents with a library card, the library is a free resource for everyone.
“One thing that’s really important for people to know is that they can utilize the library without having to get a library card,” Lopez said. “We have study rooms and programs they can attend. They can also use our computers without needing to have a library card.”
Library cards are usually free, however, there are some residents in Pinal County that aren’t part of Queen Creek who have to pay for a library card. Without purchasing a card, these residents can still come in to use the library and access their extensive database. They just can’t check out any books.
“There’s things that are available that people don’t necessarily have to come into the library for. They can go on our website and look to see what all we have,” Lopez said. “Whether they want to read books online, listen to audiobooks or get job help, we have something for everyone.”
For anyone looking to get a library card they can visit the Queen Creek Library in person or schedule a virtual Book-a-Librarian session to obtain their card.
Under the “Learn” tab, the Maricopa County Library District website also offers Brainfuse JobNow, Brainfuse VetNow, Gale Business Plan Builder, Gale Courses, Rocket Languages, Smart Schools, Test and Career Prep, and more.
New library card designs are also available. Members can replace their library card with any of the new cards for free.
