The Gilbert-based Keli May Foundation has opened 2024 submissions for its Keli May Artist Spotlight Scholarship to support Arizona-based singer-songwriters and to honor the late Keli Ariana-Renee Rutledge, the inspiration behind the foundation, and her passion for music.
Launched in 2020, interested candidates should apply by July 15 on the Keli May Foundation’s website. The scholarship was created to support talented musicians who are making a positive impact in their community through music.
Keli Ariana-Renee Rutledge, an aspiring 18-year-old Valley singer, was killed on the morning of March 4, 2016, by an impaired driver. The Keli May Foundation was created in 2017 by her parents, Warren and Cynthia Rutledge in Gilbert, to support her aspiration to help those aging out of the foster care system and the homeless.
Two deserving recipients will receive a $500 cash award intended to go towards music education and equipment costs. There are no age or education requirements and no fees to apply to this scholarship opportunity. Recipients will be announced on July 29, Keli’s birthday.
