The Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL) is hosting a Furever Home Adoption Event through Friday, June 30, offering waived adoption fees for all animals at both its locations.
This event is to honor the memory of Elisha Dillon, a 10-year member of the AAWL team who died suddenly on June 12.
"We are deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of our beloved and respected animal welfare champion," said a AAWL spokesperson. "During her 10 years of service, Elisha was an invaluable member of our team at AAWL, leading our largest department that encompassed intake, behavior and animal care. Her dedication and passion for animals were unmatched. To honor Elisha's memory and the incredible work she did for our furry friends, we are hosting the Furever Home Adoption Event. As a tribute to Elisha's legacy, we are offering fee-waived adoptions for all animals at both of our adoption locations. Elisha played a vital role in our organization's success, spearheading our rural rescue program and establishing partnerships with shelters in under-served communities across Arizona. Thanks to her expertise, love and compassion for animals, especially those with special needs, we were able to save more than 37,000 cats and dogs over the last 10 years. Join us in celebrating Elisha's passion and dedication by helping us find loving homes to all the deserving pets in our care."
The Arizona Animal Welfare League's main campus is located in Phoenix at 25 N 40th St. and they have an East Valley adoption center located inside the Chandler Fashion Center near Dillard's on the second floor, at 3111 W. Chandler Blvd.
