The Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD) has announced another addition to the new Crismon High School front office. Barry Cromer will be the school's first assistant principal and athletic director.

He has been a head girls golf coach, head boys golf coach and head baseball coach for more than 15 years. Cromer and his wife, Anna Lea, have to two sons, Barry III and Michael.

In 2015, Cromer was the athletic director of Payson High School and then made his home in Sahuarita, where he served as athletic director at Walden Grove High School for the past six years. During his time there he won the 4A Conference Athletic Director of the Year twice and the AMEA Outstanding Administrator award last year. In his six years at Walden Grove, his teams won 16 region titles, three state runners up trophies and a state title in wrestling. Cromer is also the state director of athletic director mentoring for Arizona.

"Barry is just an overall great guy and we are really lucky to have him on our team," QCUSD officials said.

Construction continues on QCUSD's third high school at 21942 E. Riggs Road, just north of Riggs and east of Crismon roads. The 300,000-square-foot facility will include full fine arts and athletic amenities. The school's academic programs will have top career and college readiness courses in four career path academies focused on STEM, health services, business and leadership, and design and construction.
