Last night's monsoon hit the Val Vista Drive/US 60 area hard and clean-up this morning is rapidly underway.
As a result, the US 60 is closed in the East Valley, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).
Due to water on the roadway, the westbound lanes are closed at Val Vista Drive; the eastbound lanes are closed at Gilbert Road. Westbound traffic must exit at or before Val Vista Drive; eastbound traffic must exit at or before Gilbert Road.
Motorists are being advised to expect delays and postpone nonessential travel at this time.
There is no estimated time to reopen the freeway.
