Phoenix Children’s 11th annual Concours in the Hills, known as the “Greatest Car Show on Grass,” will take place Saturday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fountain Park in Fountain Hills. The event will feature an array of cars, motorcycles, helicopters, and military vehicles, all in support of Phoenix Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and the Cardiothoracic Surgery Support Fund.
Peter Volny, a childhood cancer survivor and the event’s creator, turned his passion for automobiles into what has become a premier auto show that attracts enthusiasts from across the Southwest and beyond. Volny, who built a successful advertising career in the automobile industry before moving to Arizona, started Concours in the Hills in 2014 with 220 cars and 3,000 spectators. Since then, it has grown to feature over 1,200 vehicles and drew approximately 50,000 attendees in 2024.
“We are honored to be celebrating the 11th anniversary of Concours in the Hills in 2025,” Volny said. “The car enthusiast community is just as generous as it is passionate, creating a truly special event that attracts participants from across the country and around the world.”
While Volny handed over management of the event to Phoenix Children’s in 2022, the auxiliary group PCH50 now leads the charge. Dr. Kris Birkeland, chair of PCH50, said the group’s mission is to support Phoenix Children’s through fundraising, volunteer efforts, and raising awareness.
“Concours in the Hills gives our members the opportunity to further that mission with this successful event, and we are committed to growing it for many years to come,” Birkeland said.
The event will feature sections dedicated to Domestics, Imports, Race Cars, Limited-Edition Exotics, Off-Road vehicles, and Motorcycles. Helicopters on display will include both civilian and military models. Leading car clubs and dealers such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren, Corvette, and others will also participate, with some individual vehicles valued at over $10 million. The total value of the vehicles on display is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions.
Concours in the Hills is free for spectators, with no charge for admission or parking. For more information, visit phoenixchildrens.org/events/concours-in-the-hills.
