What happens when three dynamic non-profit organizations team up to benefit mothers recovering from homelessness and domestic violence? An incredible Mother’s Day event of pampering and luxurious spa experiences they will never forget this weekend.
In 2022, Love Society’s traditional Mother’s Day service project grew into an occasion that could more accurately be described as a spectacular extravaganza when their group was joined by teams from the Mama Army and Handing out Hope. The results were so successful that they vowed to make their combined efforts an annual event.
Working together this year as an Army of Love and Hope, they have spent months raising funds, collecting donations and recruiting volunteers in preparation for this over-the-top outpouring of love and support for more than 70 mothers and their children currently residing in the House of Refuge transitional housing program for homeless families.
- Mothers will receive slippers from the Mama Army, a snuggly throw, and Love Bags filled with over $150 worth of carefully selected personal items, jewelry, treats and treasures from Love Society.
- Professional Pop-up Spa services will include chair massages, facials and manicures.
- Delectable nibbles, a delicious lunch and scrumptious desserts will be served.
- While moms are being pampered, their kiddos will make Mother’s Day gifts at floral and craft stations, keep busy with face-painting and a petting zoo, and even receive a special gift of their own from Handing Out Hope.
The festivities will take place on Sunday, May 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the House of Refuge Education & Employment Center, Family Services Office and Community Center, located at 6859 E. Ursula and 6909 E. Ursula in Mesa, near Queen Creek.
“This event is the true definition of the community coming together to make a meaningful impact in the lives of these women and children at House of Refuge. When the mamas experience the spa, the gifts and all of the fun activities – hugs follow and tears of gratitude pour. Those hugs are some of the most powerful moments in my life. It's an extraordinary event that will truly warm anyone's heart for at least a lifetime,” said Jennifer Cooper, founder and CEO of Love Society.
