It's Taco Tuesday, the perfect time to announce the opening of Torchy’s Tacos in Queen Creek. Based in Austin, this craft-casual brand is known for its "Damn Good Tacos and addictive Green Chile Queso."
Those attending yesterday's friends and family soft opening in town seem to agree with that slogan. The latest location officially opens tomorrow, Dec. 14, in the Queen Creek Marketplace, at 21386 S. Ellsworth Loop Road. It marks Torchy’s Tacos’ third restaurant in Arizona and its first in Queen Creek.
Resident Casey Baldwin's initial reaction biting into the "Damn Good Tacos and addictive Green Chile Queso" was simply, "Fire!" He said they're not exaggerating with that slogan. "This is going to become the next hot spot in QC," Baldwin added.
Torchy’s is kicking off grand opening day Dec. 14 by offering the first 100 guests in line at 10 a.m. a limited-edition Torchy’s Restaurant Opening T-shirt, which will grant the lucky "Taco Junkie" a year of free Green Chile Queso each time they wear it to the Queen Creek location. The new restaurant boasts a 4,501-square-foot dining room paired with a 500-square-foot outdoor patio, where guests can enjoy a wide selection of tacos, queso and margaritas, all hand-crafted and made to order.
"Torchy’s Tacos elevates the traditional street taco with unique flavor combinations that include responsibly sourced, high-quality ingredients from around the world," said Marisa Patterson, communications manager for Torchy’s Tacos’.
“(This year) was a great year for us in terms of expansion and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to continue growing in the great state of Arizona,” said Mike Rypka, founder and CEO of Torchy’s Tacos. “Make sure to stop by and see us on December 14 to try out some Damn Good tacos, queso and margs!”
The Torchy’s Tacos story began 16 years ago in Austin, Texas, when Rypka had a dream and bought a food trailer and a vibrant red Vespa. He built a menu out of experimental tacos that were coined by fans as “damn good.” Today, Torchy’s Tacos has over 100 locations across Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Kansas, Indiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and now, Arizona.
