A year ago it was announced that Sprouts Farmers Market would anchor the Vineyard Towne Center at the northwest corner of Gantzel and Combs roads in Queen Creek. Now, it's been announced that Target will be the other anchor of the shopping center currently under construction.
Phoenix-based Vestar announced development of the Vineyard Towne Center in Queen Creek in late 2021, with 75,000 square feet targeted for the first phase. The 23-acre property will feature a traditional retail mix of shops, services and restaurants joining the anchors.
European Wax Center and local favorite Chunk Cookies will be joining the highly anticipated shopping center along with MOD Pizza and Nekter Juice Bar.
“For the past several years we strategically held off on developing new projects and put our resources into revitalizing our existing portfolio and responding to current retail trends,” David Larcher, president and COO of Vestar, said in October 2021 when announcing the development of Vineyard Towne Center. “We have seen a resurgence of retail like never before. Customer traffic, sales and leasing activity are stronger than pre-pandemic levels."
Queen Creek Vice Mayor Jeff Brown said a year ago that planner Steven Ester had presented his request in the first phase of Vineyard Towne Center, "providing the background history of the site and its previous plans proposed in Pinal County prior to annexation into the town. Steven shared that the site already enjoys C-2 zoning and that the request was simply for site plan and preliminary plat approval."
This will be the second Target in Queen Creek. The other is located in the Queen Creek Marketplace, at 21398 S. Ellsworth Loop Road.
