The fuel island at the new Queen Creek Costco will open at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, ahead of the actual store opening on Jan. 26 at Ellsworth and Queen Creek roads.
Vice Mayor Jeff Brown said the fuel island includes 32 pumps as opposed to 16 spots at most of the other area Costco locations.
"I am very much hoping their lower pricing will be the impetus to reduce gas prices in general for our town," he posted yesterday on Facebook. "We have been paying at least 40 cents per gallon for far too long."
Brown said the fuel island sports a message board showing which gas pumps are free and which ones are occupied.
The Costco location is still hiring, although Brown said "this is likely the final week/final push for crew member hiring." Job applications are available online at costco.com/jobs.
Memberships are available at a kiosk outside the main entry to the Queen Creek warehouse. "Stop by the main entry and look for the Costco pop-up canopy," Brown said, adding that "the interior of the warehouse is essentially vacant but is now lighted and that will allow crew members to do a final clean up and then take deliveries of dry goods and start stocking displays/shelves."
Brown confirmed the warehouse's grand opening will be on Thursday, Jan. 26. The Queen Creek Costco is located at 20220 S. Ellsworth Road.
