This year, 27 seniors from Eastmark High and Queen Creek High were honored with scholarships showcasing their hard work and dedication to their education.

Celebrates accomplishments of nearly 800 local, national and international seniors with graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. inside the Desert Financial Arena on the Arizona State University Tempe campus, located at 600 E. Veterans Way.

Expectations regarding conduct during ceremonies were communicated extensively – flyers, banners and flags were not permitted in ceremonies and it was warned that disruptive behavior would result in removal and Student Code of Conduct consequences – even for graduates. While these standards are normal protocols, the university was assertive in reminding participants about them.

The following individuals were honored for their service and time at Queen Creek Unified School District during a special May 7 reception.

This year, the school district acknowledged 28 teachers and staff members for their noteworthy contributions. Each year, school and district staff members have the opportunity to anonymously nominate their peers for this award.

This is the 40-year anniversary of the Hispanic Mother Daughter Program. Started in 1984, it was designed to pave the way toward higher education for first-generation college students who aspire to attend Arizona State University.

The first 300 teachers will get free entry, and additional teachers will receive 50% off general admission. Teachers must present their teacher ID.

Laura Ridge has been with the J.O. Combs Unified School District for nearly 15 years, nine of which have been spent leading and serving Combs Middle School. She will be formally recognized for this award during the Arizona School Administrators Summer Conference Awards in June.

Arizona State University is No. 6 for gerontology in the nation. The college’s Doctor of Nursing Practice gerontology concentration was ranked for the first time, and in the top 10 alongside Ohio State University and the University of Illinois Chicago.

Each school in Queen Creek was invited to nominate one student. The recognitions were during council meetings acknowledging local students who are helpful and considerate of others while demonstrating good citizenship, service and integrity.
