Brewster Kaleidoscope Society (BKS) is a small nonprofit organization of artists, collectors and retailers focusing on kaleidoscopes. The organization’s members include artists who design and create kaleidoscopes, galleries and shops that sell kaleidoscopes, and collectors and museums that appreciate and enjoy them.
BKS will hold its 32nd International Kaleidoscope Expo this month in Scottsdale. The annual expo brings together kaleidoscope artists, retailers and collectors from around the world – as well as the curious – allowing all a chance to share and enjoy the exciting art of kaleidoscopes.
“After making and sharing over 10,000 handmade glass kaleidoscopes over a 44-year period, I have learned one incredible thing: no matter what age, everyone that views this personal interactive artform walks away with a smile,” said Charles, an artist from Maryland.
The Brewster International Kaleidoscope Expo will be at the Scottsdale Hilton Resort & Villas, located at 6333 N. Scottsdale Road, from Thursday, June 13 through Sunday, June 16. This will be the place to meet artists and collectors who are eager to share a wealth of fun – attendees may participate in demonstrations, seminars and ask questions about kaleidoscopes.
The showroom will be open to the public on Saturday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, June 16, from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door for adults and there is no cost for children under 12 accompanied by a paying adult or students with a school ID.
Classes for BKS members only are on Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14. However, according to BKS, anyone can become a member by going to their website or completing a form and paying dues at the expo registration desk.
