On Jan. 10, the Queen Creek Police Department prepared a time capsule they buried outside of the Queen Creek Law Enforcement and Community Chambers building to be opened in 25 years. Items included patches from previous agencies of all of the founding police officers, letters written by officers to their future selves, the founding police badge, challenge coins and photos.
The department launched at midnight today, Jan. 11, 2022.
The Queen Creek Town Council approved establishing a municipal police department at its March 18, 2020 meeting following a comprehensive police study and extensive public outreach. They hired Police Chief Randy Brice, who began his role as chief on July 20, 2020. He was officially sworn in on Dec. 2, 2020.
Brice said the new department consists of 66 employees; 44 officers and detectives, nine supervisors, three lieutenants, the chief himself and nine professional staff members.
"The Queen Creek culture is hyper focused on community connections and what we do with them is super important," Brice said. "We have a big responsibility and we've embraced that concept and all things are geared towards making that happen while developing this police force."
The Queen Creek Police Department is located in the Community Chambers/Law Enforcement building at 20727 E. Civic Parkway.
