Passed Away on July 19, 2022
Tammy Marie Boren passed away surrounded by family in her daughter’s home on July 14, 2022, after a long fight with cancer and other associated medical conditions. Tammy was born October 9, 1958, in Muncie, Indiana. At the age of two, she was adopted by her parents Marie and Charles Dickinson. During her teenage years, Tammy moved to Lynn, Alabama where she attended and graduated from Lynn High School. After high school, Tammy attended college where she received her associates degree. While in college, Rickey and Tammy’s parents planned a sneaky set up which led to Tammy meeting the love of her life, Rickey Boren, to whom she was married for forty-two years.
Shortly after marriage, Tammy had their eldest son, Benjamin. She became a military wife after her husband joined the army in 1980. From there she moved eleven different times while her husband was in the military. In 1981, she gave birth to her daughter, Amanda. Once discharged from the military, Tammy, her husband, and her two children moved to Arizona. Several years later, Tammy had her youngest son, Nathaniel.
In 1992, Tammy continued her education and earned her bachelor’s degree. She was dedicated to her profession as a procurement specialist. She worked at Intel, Varian, AMSAFE, and Collins Aerospace where she not only grew in her profession but made lifelong friends. Tammy was a devoted wife and mother, who had such a deep love for her husband and her children. She enjoyed taking long road trips, visiting the beach, the Superstition Mountains, crocheting, sewing, and playing Pokémon Go. Tammy really shined when she became a grandma. Also known as, “Nammy,” to her three beautiful grandchildren, Alexander, Abigail, and Olivia, were the loves of her life.
In 2017, Tammy was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She sought treatment and overcame many adverse effects that came with cancer and its treatment. She lived several years “cancer-free” and enjoyed life to its fullest. In 2021, after a routine PET scan, cancer was found to have metastases to her lungs. During this time, she developed Congestive Heart Failure, which eventually led to her passing.
Tammy is preceded in death by her mother and father, Marie and Charles Dickinson and her sister, Tina Marie Dickinson.
Tammy is survived by her loving husband, Rickey Boren, her son and his spouse, Benjamin & Ashley Boren, her daughter and spouse, Amanda & Trevor Thundershield, and youngest son, Nathaniel Boren. She also leaves behind her mother-in-law, Irene Lewis, sister-in-law, Deborah Cooke, niece, Gwen Cooke, her father-in-law and his wife, James and Barbara Boren, nephew, Terry Lance Gravitt, and her three grandchildren, Alexander, Abigail, and Olivia Thundershield.
