Sherry Shinn

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sherry Shinn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who passed away unexpectedly in her home on February 8, 2025.

Sherry was born on July 4, 1945 in Davenport, IA. The daughter of Charles Kroeger and Muriel Dodds. Sherry and James R Shinn were married on August 18th, 1965 and have been married for 59 years. They raised their four children, Michele, Kelley, Eric and Ramsey on a farm in Iowa before moving the family to Arizona in 1984. Sherry was an amazing nurse and mother who balanced caring for others with unconditional love for her family. Her home was always open for a hot meal, a warm hug and all the love and support you needed.

Early in her life, Sherry discovered a passion for nursing where her compassion and expertise had a lasting impact on her patients. She worked at the hospital, taught and mentored other nurses, and eventually returned to school to complete her Bachelor of Nursing degree. After years of caring for others, she became the Director of Health Services for Gilbert Public Schools, a position that she held until 2005 when she retired and shifted her energy towards her family and faith.

As a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren and two great grandkids, her love for her family knew no bounds and she cherished every moment she spent with them. She found pleasure in all the highlights of back to school shopping, telling stories, laughing and sharing her love.

Sherry will be remembered for her passion for life, her boundless love, and her selflessness and unwavering commitment to her family. She is survived by her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and many other family members and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and nurturing soul.

Services for Sherry were held Saturday February 15.

Arrangements were cared for by Mountain View Funeral Home and Cemetery.
