Sgt First Class Russell L Lichtenfels, Ret. Army, passed away on December 30, 2024, due to complications of cancer.
He is survived by his wife Amber. His sister Rose Marie. His son Shawn R and wife Kelly, his daughter Shannon and her husband Aaron and their son Richard. His stepdaughter Ashley and her son Wyatt, his son-in-law Edwin and his daughter Gwyneth. Also, many cousins back in Pennsylvania.
He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Lester L Lichtenfels and Shirly Smith on July 12, 1956. He was later raised by his father and Stepmother Averil. They lived all over the country as his father was in the US Air Force.
Once Russell graduated from High School he joined the US Army where he served for 30 years on active duty and in the reserves. Russell loved serving in the military and enjoyed the travel it allowed him to do.
When he left the service, he drove 18-wheel big rigs from one end of the county to the other. Most truckers had dogs in their rigs, but Russell liked to be different, so he had a cat named CeCe that rode along with him.
Russell really loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. Family was very important to him. He also loved his country and was very proud of his service to it. He also liked his motorcycles and would ride whenever he could.
He will be missed by all you knew him.
