July 19, 1941 – November 20, 2023

Carmen Orta passed on November 20, 2023 in Queen Creek, AZ. She was 82 years old. Carmen was the beloved mother of Carmen (husband Jesus), Angelica, Ana (husband Hector), Vesaida and Jose (husband Robert). She is survived by seven grandchildren David (wife Ysenia), Ralphy (wife Yamilet), Celi, Sandi (husband Alberto), David, Hector, Betsy (husband Gabriel), a multitud of great-grand babies and a great-great-grandbaby. She also had 6 siblings still living, Manolo, Blanca, Lita, Mona, Felix and Mingo whom all adored her. She found happiness in giving her bendicion and hugging and kissing her loved ones whenever possible.

She was born in Lares, Puerto Rico.  She married and had children in Chicago. She escaped the harsh winters by moving to Queen Creek, AZ.  She lived simply, yet considered herself rich in family. She loved her family deeply and considered them her greatest treasure. She loved playing dominos, bingo and the lottery.  She was generous and loving and always spoke her truth.  She cooked with love, adobo and sofrito.  She advocated for the family to stay united and will forever be lovingly remembered as our vieja and wela.

She praised God amidst her hardships and aliments. Her light will be missed but we rejoice that she is now in heaven saying benidicion to Jesus and he’s telling her “Te bendigo”.  We know she has been welcomed by her family (her parents, her brothers, her grandchildren Jesse and Joey, and her great-granddaughter Gabby). In heaven, she can once again walk, see and talk without pain  She is made a new and we will see her again.  She lived a full and impactful life and her legacy will live on through her family. Wela we love you!
