In the Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD), we teach our students the importance of civic responsibility, one of our core American values. As educators, it is our duty to ensure that every student graduates with the knowledge, skills, and passion to be an active and engaged citizen.
However, you might be surprised to learn that our community has low voter registration rates. Despite this, our students are engaged in learning about the democratic process. Whether they’re voting on projects to enhance their schools through our participatory budgeting program, participating in student council elections, or studying civics in social studies classes, our students are actively involved in understanding and practicing civic engagement.
At QCUSD, we understand the value of leading by example, and we strive to demonstrate the importance of active participation in voting. We encourage parents and community members to model behavior that will prepare our students to achieve excellence through leadership.
On Nov. 5, our community will have the opportunity to exercise its civic responsibility by considering an override renewal ballot measure for QCUSD. This critical election will have a significant impact on all schools and faculty, shaping the resources and support available to our students and staff.
Key dates to keep in mind: The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 7, and ballots will be mailed on Oct. 9. The last day to mail in your ballot is Oct. 29. Election Day is just around the corner, and every vote counts.
