Crismon High School’s girls softball team recently won the East Valley Conference Championship. It's among the first championship wins for Queen Creek Unified School District’s newest high school.
The team, consisting of 14 players, competed in the championship game last year and received runner-up placement. Winning the championship this year was due to determination, supportiveness and commitment to the game, according to their coach.
“We did change a little bit this year versus last year,” said girls softball coach Robert Hehe. “We were the runner-up last year. So for this year, we created a little more structure during practices and a little more discipline so that they were held accountable for whatever was going on.”
For Crismon softball player Delia and her teammates, winning the championship will not only be a memorable moment from this school year, but it will also be a stepping stone to the next goal in mind.
“To me, this is just a small win,” said Delia. “I’m just gonna stay humble and not use it as an excuse to think I am better and should win the high school championship next year.”
Hehe and the team were honored and recognized at the January district governing board meeting, where they were offered congratulations by Superintendent Dr. Perry Berry, school board members and other leaders in the Queen Creek district.
“I would like to congratulate the Crismon High School girls softball team for going undefeated their whole season and winning the East Valley Conference Championship,” said Berry.
