Banner Ironwood hosts annual Camp Scrubs program in Queen Creek

The program, now in its third year, is a collaboration with the J.O. Combs Unified School District in San Tan Valley, its Combs Middle School, and other local school districts. It's open to area middle school students and provides them with hands-on experiences and insights into healthcare.

Banner Ironwood Medical Center in Queen Creek is currently hosting Camp Scrubs, a unique week-long program designed to inspire middle school students to pursue a career within healthcare.

The program, now in its third year, is a collaboration with the J.O. Combs Unified School District in San Tan Valley, its Combs Middle School, and other local school districts. It's open to area middle school students.

Participants learn first-aid training and certification on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), shadow medical teams as an introduction to wound care, orthopedics, medical imaging, surgical procedures, pharmacy and they get to meet with the BannerAir team—a hospital-based air critical and lifesaving medical transport program. 

"The Camp Scrubs program serves as a crucial platform for introducing young minds to the world of healthcare. By providing unique experiences and knowledge, we strive to ignite a passion for nursing and healthcare careers among these students," said Christina Stone, director of Camp Scrubs, adding thatBanner Ironwood's continuous partnership with local schools is inspiring and educating to local youths.
