More than 16,500 students moved in over the weekend to attend Arizona State University for fall 2023. ASU’s first day of fall classes begin on Thursday, Aug. 17 at all four campus locations. A legacy event and top student favorite is Echo from the Buttes. This is one of the longest-standing traditions at ASU that dates back to the 1930s. Students paint the “A” white to mark the start of a new year and a fresh start. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 8 to 10 a.m. atop Hayden Butte (“A” Mountain).
