Yellow ribbon tree in Queen Creek helps support troops unable to be home this holiday season

Today, Dec. 17, is National Wreaths Across America Day and San Tan Valley resident Bridgette Crosby, recording secretary for Blue Star Mothers of Maricopa, says next year they are planning a special ceremony at San Tan Memorial Gardens in Queen Creek.

Through Saturday, Dec. 31 there is a yellow ribbon tree in Queen Creek, inside the Third Cup Place Coffeeshop, where the community can support our U.S. troops and military families who cannot make it home this holiday season.

"We are happy to announce we have two locations for our yellow ribbon trees this year. Please stop by to hang a yellow ribbon to honor those who cannot be home for the holiday season. Help us spread the word to our local military families," said San Tan Valley resident Bridgette Crosby, recording secretary for Blue Star Mothers of Maricopa.

“Freedom is a spark that smolders in the spirits and hearts of Americans…. It becomes a flame and formidable force to be reckoned with when our brave men and women serve our country. It is our duty to teach the younger generations how to honor, remember, respect and serve those who fight for us. As a mother with three children in the military, and as a Gold Star family, I encourage everyone to take the time to teach, honor and serve our veterans, troops and military families, because we would not be here without their sacrifices," Crosby continued. "I also welcome other military mothers, military families, veterans and businesses in Queen Creek and beyond to join us in our mission."
