Queen Creek Unified School District hosted the seventh annual C.A.F.E. event Sept. 16 at the district's main office.
C.A.F.E. stands for Community and Family Engagement and brought together various members of the community and school district.
School principals discussed with QCUSD parents, religious leaders, non-profit leaders, and local business owners how to best serve schools within the community.
Some of the discussions covered service ideas for each school, and how to strengthen the relationship between the community and the district.
"Everyone had wonderful insights," said Blake Wilford. "Everyone here just wants to help impact the kids and we discussed how we can work together to do that."
Janet Strebeck, who has a few grandchildren attending QCUSD's schools, discussed how to get QCUSD students involved in the community.
"We discussed what would be good for a career fair, how to get kids to learn about the history of Queen Creek to have a deeper respect for where they live, and to get to know the legacy of the schools they attend," said Strebeck.
All attendees also discussed service project ideas for each school to participate in for love our school day, on Oct. 23.
QCUSD plans to host its next community event in November.
