Local nonprofit Waste Not is excited to present the return of its annual Empty Bowls fundraiser event for its 34th year on Oct. 26. In partnership with the Arizona Clay Association, Empty Bowls will benefit Waste Not’s network of over 85 nonprofit agencies that receive excess food for Arizonans in need.

Local artists have personally hand-crafted individual bowls that will be on display and available for purchase at Empty Bowls. These bowls were donated by the Arizona Clay Association and made specifically for this event. While many of the dishes are one-of-a-kind, there are a few that may run in pairs. At the event, attendees can receive both a bowl and lunch from Salad and Go for $25. Attendees also have the option to purchase an additional bowl for $10 each.

Empty Bowls is a grassroots movement with fundraisers taking place year-round in various cities across the world. Artists all over the globe create hand-crafted bowls to help feed the hungry in their communities. The bowls are meant raise awareness for those experiencing hunger and the empty bowls they struggle to fill.

Salad and Go is once again donating the salads that will be enjoyed at Empty Bowls, which will include a vegetarian option, and handing out vouchers. This year, Waste Not will be partnering with ASU for composting and recycling of food waste and plastics from this event. Waste Not is thankful to its sponsors, Swift Transportation and Waste Management, who have donated $2,500 each.

Waste Not’s Empty Bowls will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the ASU Art Museum in Tempe, located at 51 E. 10th Street in Tempe. For more information, visit wastenotaz.org/emptybowls.
