Things to do: Wickenburg Bluegrass Festival is back for a toe-tappin’ good time Nov. 8-10

The Wickenburg Bluegrass Festival is returning for its 45th year Nov. 8-10. This festival is produced by the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce and is one of the oldest bluegrass festivals in the Southwest. Whether you’re a seasoned bluegrass aficionado or just looking to enjoy a beautiful weekend out Wickenburg way, music lovers of all ages are welcome to enjoy toe-tappin’, hand-clappin’ bluegrass music.

Three featured bands will take the stage each day of the festival: The Arizona Wildflowers, The Po’ Ramblin Boys, Chris Cerna and The Bluegrass Republic. Additionally, contestants will compete in eight categories for prizes and cash awards. Some of the categories bring championship designations, such as Fiddle, Mandolin, Flat Pick Guitar and Banjo.

The festival is held outdoors at the Everett Bowman Rodeo Grounds (935 Constellation Road), less than two miles from historic downtown Wickenburg. The festival opens on Friday to the public at 11 a.m., with entertainment from 1-4 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, gates open at 7 a.m. for breakfast and entertainment follows from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Tickets for the Bluegrass Festival are $20 for adults (ages 18+), $15 for senior citizens (ages 60+), $10 students for (ages 6-17), and children ages 5 and under get in free. Three-day passes are $45 for adults, $30 for seniors, and $20 for students. Tickets are available online at Eventbrite.com, at the Wickenburg Visitor Center, and at the gate on the day of the event (note: it will be cash only at the gate).   

At the festival, you'll find food and drink concessions, a beer booth, arts and crafts vendors and a designated Kids Zone on Saturday and Sunday. Organizers prohibit bringing in alcoholic beverages, dogs, food and coolers. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to sit on in the area close to the stage. Covered grandstand bleacher seating is also available on a first-come, first-served basis.
