Once again, the most magical time of the year is upon us. The community is invited to watch the magic of the holidays come to life on Nov. 21 when more than 500,000 lights will illuminate Pollack Tempe Cinemas shopping center, home to Pollack Tempe Cinemas, located on the corner of McClintock and Elliot Roads in Tempe.
Before the movies start Pollack will officially flip the switch to the spectacular holiday light display creating a glittering experience to enjoy with friends and family. Following the light show, guests can enjoy one of four free holiday movies, sing along to Christmas carols from 5:30 p.m. with “The King’s Carolers," partake in a live raffle and more.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the free holiday movies will begin at 6:30 p.m. for a spectacular start to the holidays. Seating is limited. Get in line early. The featured holiday films include “A Christmas Story,” “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” and “Elf.”
If you can’t make it out on Nov. 21 to the opening lighting ceremony you can stop by and enjoy the incredible holiday light display throughout the holiday season.
“This is truly one of my favorite holiday traditions,” said Michael Pollack, owner of Pollack Tempe Cinemas and real estate entrepreneur. “Every year we have an opportunity to connect with the community and kick off the happiest time of year, which always gives me a chance to see the impact a simple free movie can make on creating cherished memories. It is just the right type of event to get you into the holiday spirit.”
Over the past few years, Pollack Tempe Cinemas has undergone an extensive restoration including upgrades to the snack bar, renovations to all six theaters, the lobby and new larger theater seating. Additionally, the building’s exterior was completely remodeled with touches for the movie buffs, including an oversized clock that adds a nod to the city hall background in the movie “Back to the Future.”
The snack bar will be open with snacks available for purchase. Guests are encouraged to arrive early. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
