Things to do: Drift & Drags at Firebird Motorsports Park June 22

A thrilling raceway experience, Drift & Drags offers an opportunity for participants to either bring their own vehicles to drift/drag or be viewers of the event. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. tonight and the track will be hot from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Firebird Motorsports Park in nearby Chandler.

Firebird Motorsports Park in Chandler is inviting racers and families to participate in its Drift & Drags event on Saturday, June 22.

A thrilling raceway experience, Drift & Drags offers an opportunity for participants to either bring their own vehicles to drift/drag or be viewers of the event.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. tonight and the track will be hot from 7 p.m. to midnight at the Firebird Motorsports Park in Chandler, located at 20000 S. Maricopa Road.

“This is a unique opportunity for motorsport lovers to connect with other car enthusiasts,” said Casey Buckman, track manager for Firebird Motorsports Park. “We’ve got a great selection of food and drink vendors; we’re really excited to see everyone come out with their families.”

Drift & Drags offers opportunities for everyone, from spectators to drifters and drag racers. Drivers are encouraged to bring their car or truck to test their skills by drifting in a safe and professional environment in the lower pits, while the dedicated 1/4-mile NHRA drag strip will allow drag racers to test their speed on the same fully-prepped track that racing legends like John Force and Tony Stewart have competed on.

Drag participants:

  • Enter through Gate 3, opens at 5:30 p.m.; track is hot from 7 p.m. to midnight.
  • Park in the upper pit area, before the Tech Inspection Area.
  • Crew members pay general admission fees.
  • Listen for announcements over the PA.
  • Cars with street tires line up in staging Lanes 2-4 and cars with slicks line up in Lane 5.
  • Lane 1 is for junior street and motorcycles.

Drift participants:

  • Enter through Gate 3, opens at 5:30 p.m.; track is hot from 7 p.m. to midnight.
  • Park in the upper pit area, beyond the Tech Inspection Area.
  • Crew members pay general admission fees.
  • Attend the driver’s meeting 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, at the course entrance.
  • Drivers and passengers must keep their arms inside the vehicle.

General admission is $30, a Drag Race Tech Card is $45, a Drift Tech Card is $85, and kids under 12 are free. Buy tickets here.
