Things to do: Discover the Science of Animation at Arizona Science Center July 20

"Science of Animation is one of our teen-centric initiatives that gives teens and young adults a safe and nurturing place to explore STEAM career paths," said Lauren Pool, senior manager of science experiences at the Arizona Science Center. "Events like this are so important because it gives teens the chance to get hands-on experience with a potential career and connect with local professionals, organizations and like-minded peers."

With so many animated movies, TV shows and shorts, if you’ve ever been curious about the art of animation, the Arizona Science Center is offering an opportunity to explore the world of animation this weekend.

From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 local teens and young adults are invited to join the Arizona Science Center for its special Science of Animation teen-centric initiative.

Science of Animation features:

  • An engaging Q&A panel about the art and science of animation.
  • Hands-on workshops to uncover the science behind some animated favorites.
  • Exploration of drawing and digital painting.
  • 3D modeling.
  • Basics of animation workshops that will bring art to life.

The Arizona Science Center is located in downtown Phoenix, at 600 E. Washington St. They are open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
