The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services to reactivate July 19-20 for Excessive Heat Warning

So far this year, The Salvation Army has provided heat relief to nearly 41,000 Arizonans and given out almost 82,000 bottles of water across the state.

The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services will activate 10 heat relief stations throughout the Valley during the latest Excessive Heat Warning issued by the National Weather Service for Friday and Saturday, July 19 and 20.

Anyone in need can go to one of the following Salvation Army heat relief stations for indoor cooling and hydration on any weekday during normal operating hours, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on a weekend day on which the National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning:

·Apache Junction – Apache Junction Corps Community Center, 605 E. Broadway Ave.

·Avondale – Estrella Mountain Corps Community Center, 11 N. Third Ave.

·Chandler – Chandler Corps Community Center, 85 E. Saragosa St.

·Glendale – Glendale Corps Community Center, 6010 W. Northern Ave.

·Mesa – Mesa Corps Community Center, 241 E. Sixth St.

·Phoenix

o   Phoenix Citadel Corps Community Center, 628 N. Third Ave.

o   Ray & Joan Kroc Center Phoenix, 1375 E. Broadway Road.

o   Phoenix Family Services Office, 2707 E. Van Buren St., Bldg. 2.

·Surprise – North West Valley Corps Community Center, 17420 N. Avenue of the Arts Blvd.

·Tempe – Tempe Corps Community Center, 4701 S. Lakeshore Drive, Suite 3.

Note: the Phoenix Maryvale Corps Community Center at 4318 W. Clarendon Ave. is currently facing facility issues and is not fully equipped to provide heat relief at this time.

A mobile hydration unit will be dispatched from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day July 19 and 20 to portions of the Valley identified as areas with high homeless populations.
