The Town of Queen Creek was recently recognized with an American Council of Engineering Companies, Arizona Chapter, Honor Award for the Rittenhouse Road Project from Ocotillo to Riggs roads.
This crucial roadway improvement project widened approximately 2.8 miles of roadway to four travel lanes, realigned the Cloud Road intersection, and constructed bike lanes, exclusive right turn lanes, upgraded four traffic signals, new curb and gutter, sidewalk and driveway entrances.
This multi-faceted project included coordination with major stakeholders from private owners, several homeowner associations, the Maricopa County Department of Transportation, Flood Control District of Maricopa County, Arizona Corporation Commission, Union Pacific Railroad, Cox Communication, Queen Creek Irrigation District and Salt River Project.
“This large-scale undertaking had a number of unique aspects, including the undergrounding of electrical power and telecommunication lines, widening a private at-grade railroad spur crossing, replacing irrigation pipelines, and demolishing a 50-year-old concrete girder bridge and constructing a new 11-barrel, cast-in-place concrete box culvert crossing the Queen Creek Wash,” said Capital Improvements Department Director Dave Lipinski. “Senior Project Manager Charlene Montgomery did an amazing job in delivering this $18.2 million project. This is a great recognition of her professionalism and skills.”
