PetSmart’s MVPets TAILgate Experience coming to Queen Creek Jan. 1

The community is invited to get custom football player cards of their pet, run a 40-yard dash in a human-sized hamster wheel and meet adoptable pets.

Football season is in full swing and even pets are getting the chance to get involved this weekend in Queen Creek.

PetSmart's ultimate MVPets TAILgate Experience is coming to the Queen Creek PetSmart, located at 21032 S. Ellsworth Loop Road, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Sunday, Jan. 1.

The TAILgate is free and open to the public. Attendees will experience:

  • The MVPets 40-yard dash featuring a giant, life-sized hamster wheel that attendees can run on and test their speed skills.
  • A station for pet parents to create a custom football player card with their pet’s photo, complete with a souvenir lanyard. For every MVPet card created, $1 will be donated to PetSmart Charities, the leading funder of animal welfare.
  • Adoptable pets from PetSmart Charities’ partners San Tan Animal Rescue (for dogs) and AZ Center for Animal Rescue and Education (for cats).

PetSmart officials said they will do "anything for pets," and in celebration of being a sponsor of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, the pet retailer is bringing this special TAILgate to stores across the state leading up to the big game in February.

"For every MVPet Player Card created through February 15, PetSmart will donate $1 up to $150,000 to PetSmart Charities to help support their mission. Thanks to Hill's for funding $50,000 of the donation. PetSmart Charities is a registered nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization," officials said.
