Local volunteers 'Paint the Farm' at Canyon State Academy in Queen Creek

"State Farm employees and agents live right here in Queen Creek and are always looking for ways to help unify this incredible community,” said Brodie Hurtado, State Farm spokesperson. "When it comes to helping children, these volunteers are wonderful examples of what it means to be good neighbors."

Nearly 40 employees from State Farm Insurance recently volunteered to "Paint the Farm" at Canyon State Academy in Queen Creek.

Volunteers helped paint the barn and railings in preparation of a $500,000 outdoor arena they plan to start building this fall.

"State Farm employees and agents live right here in Queen Creek and are always looking for ways to help unify this incredible community,” said Brodie Hurtado, State Farm spokesperson. "When it comes to helping children, these volunteers are wonderful examples of what it means to be good neighbors."

In addition to the employees being able to use their Community Service Education Support (CSES) hours to take paid time off work to volunteer, State Farm is also providing a $2,000 Good Neighbor Grant to the academy. As part of their employee volunteer benefits, employees can apply for a $500 grant to a non-profit when they volunteer 40 hours there. Collectively, the employees volunteered enough time for four $500 grants.

Canyon State Academy offers at-risk young men and women a staff-secure Academic Model program to ensure public safety while promoting a normalized high school experience for its students. The Academic Model promotes student pride in their school, offers the environment and opportunities for positive change, and the unlimited potential for achievement. State Farm teamed up with the Arizona Cardinals last year to renovate the football field at Canyon State Academy, and now they’re renovating the farm.
