Friend of the Week: Playful Calgary is blind, happy girl who loves toys, walks

Calgary was turned in because her family could not afford to take care of her medical needs. She was taken to the veterinarian the very day she was brought into the group. The veterinarian determined that her glaucoma had progressed and she needed to have her eye removed. Calgary has been recovering in one of the amazing foster homes at Friends for Life.

Calgary is a 5-year-old Samoyed/American Eskimo mix. She weighs around 26 pounds and has very limited sight (maybe sees shadows) in her remaining eye. Although she is doing well in her foster home, she would love to find her own family to love.

Volunteers at Friends for Life Animal Rescue first met this lovely lady at Maricopa County Animal shelter.

Calgary's foster parent says she is a loving and wonderful dog. She came through her surgery like a trooper. The fur is growing back around her eye and she's turned into a playful, happy girl. Calgary loves to go for walks, which they do many during the day. She's discovered the toy box and loves to pull all of them out, looking for the one that appeals to her at that time. The vet is saying she is 100% blind. She is very smart and is used to her environment. Calgary gets along great with nice dogs. Her favorite place to be is close to you. She sleeps on the bed with her foster mom and doesn't stir until she knows she is awake. She has the best personality!

Email [email protected] to set up an appointment to meet this girl. Calgary is spayed, licensed and current on vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $150.
