This Wednesday, Nov. 17 the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is hosting a Family Fun Night event at the Queen Creek Barro's Pizza.
From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. there will be food and live music to enjoy at the Queen Creek Barro's Pizza, 20415 E. Rittenhouse Road.
EVIT, upheld as a model for career and technical education by the U.S. Department of Education, provides students with the advanced skills and training needed to thrive in today's competitive job market.
Offering that career traning for East Valley students and adults, EVIT adds to a student's academic instruction with hands-on learning provided by experienced professionals and resources. By allowing students to earn elective credit in more than 40 occupation-specific programs, EVIT enhances the future of every type of student. Most programs prepare students for state or national licensing or certifications, internship opportunities and more than 300 dual enrollment college credits.
Programs at EVIT are tuition-free to high school students who live in 11 East Valley school districts – Queen Creek, Mesa, Scottsdale, Fountain Hills, Tempe, Apache Junction, Chandler, Gilbert, Higley, Cave Creek and J.O. Combs. These students, including charter school and home-schooled students, spend half their day at EVIT for career training and the other half at their sending high school or home school for academics.
EVIT also offers classes for adults in the Phoenix area, allowing them to benefit from quality education with low tuition rates and a variety of financial aid and interest-free payment options. And, EVIT funds satellite career and technical education programs in East Valley high schools.
One student at a time, EVIT is fulfilling its mission of providing a productive, technically trained workforce to meet the market-driven needs of business and industry. EVIT is also meeting the needs of families faced with the ever-increasing cost of a college education. Two out of three EVIT students go on to higher education, many of them using their EVIT training to secure employment to help pay their college tuition.
